Camino Mortera, of the CER, said the case is "absolutely crucial" for Britain's renegotiation, which includes a far more ambitious aim of banning EU citizens from claiming in-work benefits for four years. "The court is not going to deviate from EU law. If they find it is a flagrant violation of the non-discrimination clause of the treaty, they will not have any option but to rule against the UK. But that said they will try to take into account the political situation: they will be as creative as possible to come up with a solution that Cameron can sell."
