Research fellow - EU institutions
The Centre for European Reform is looking for an EU expert to join its office in Brussels.
They should be familiar with, and willing to write on, EU institutions and EU politics, including many of the following topics: enlargement and reform; migration and border security; European Parliament elections and elections in member-states; treaty change; and the balance of power in the EU. Knowledge of EU law, and in particular, of rule of law issues, would be a plus. Familiarity with EU justice and home affairs policies would also be a plus.
The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of how politics works in Brussels and EU capitals, and of decision-making procedures. They should be able to represent the CER in high-level meetings and events, and would be expected to maintain and develop the CER’s extensive network in Brussels and EU capitals.
The candidate should be able to write in clear English – and have a track record of publishing articles or papers on EU matters. Excellent written and spoken English is a must, and additional languages would be a plus.
The candidate should be able to fit in with the CER’s culture of collaboration and teamwork. They would be expected to keep in regular contact with the CER’s corporate members, and to help to organise events. They would also be expected to travel for work from time to time, and to work flexible hours occasionally. The salary offered will be competitive, and will be commensurate with the experience of the successful candidate.
The candidate would be based in Brussels, but could work remotely on occasion.

Annual leave: 25 days per annum, plus Belgian bank holidays and the period between Christmas and New Year
