CER/KAS project: Shared values, common challenges – UK European security co-operation after the war in Ukraine

Supported by

The project starts from the premise that Europe and the UK are indispensable partners when it comes to European security and that sustained UK-European co-operation will be an essential component of a stronger European defence. The project takes stock of the state and prospects of foreign, security and defence policy co-operation between the UK and its European partners after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Our focus is on three specific issues:

First, we assess whether the European Political Community can play a role in fostering closer co-operation between the UK and the EU.

Second, we examine how the UK and its European partners can work together in addressing the challenge from China.

Third, we focus on the question of how the UK and its EU partners can work together in developing the military capabilities they need.
